Outing for Luke and Dad

Today Luke and Owen had their first outing together. Owen went to visit Valerie and Garret Bonn who have 4 month old son named Brady. Owen quickly realized this was actually the first time he had ever taken Luke somewhere by himself. It was a huge success. Luke had such a great time with his new friend he was up way past his bedtime.

Here are a few cute pictures from the playdate. Thanks Brady. Hope we can do it again soon!

Raul and Karla's Wedding

This weekend we took Luke to San Antonio for my cousin Raul's wedding. Raul will be Luke's future godfather along with my sister being his godmother.

It was a beautiful wedding and we had so much fun spending time with my family. However, it was the first time we stayed in a hotel. I wish I could say it was a good experience, but it was an experience. Luke was great during the day. He made it through all the various meals throughout the weekend, perfect at the church rehearsal Friday (I did a reading), and made it through the ceremony Saturday evening. We were able to put him to bed at his normal bed time each night. Owen was nice enough to take care of Luke Saturday night so I could stay at the reception.

The biggest problem was the sleeping at night. Luke was constantly woken up by all the noises in the hotel. He was so tired and I felt awful that he was not able to sleep. We took the pack and play and he slept in it a few hours a night. But when he would wake up crying in the middle of the night, I would bring him into bed with me.We no longer do this at at home since Luke has been in his crib for over a month now.

I must say I missed the snuggle time, so I did not mind. He slept and I slept, so it was a win win.

My Face Says It All

Luke is so much fun these days. He laughs all the time and shows so many emotions in his face. As you can see from the pictures attached below.

He loves to play on his play mat, grasp at rattles and stuffed animals. You can just see his mind working as he feels new textures. He is also always placing things in his mouth. His hand is always the first choice. I am sure teething is in the near future.

He still rolls from back to tummy all day long. However, he gets stuck and cannot roll back. (We are working on this.) The rolling over makes sleeping at night interesting. I am thankful for the camera Owen installed in Luke's room, so I can check his position through the night.

Here are some pictures of the various emotions of Luke.

Rollin Rollin Rollin

Luke had his 4 month appointment with the pediatrician last Thursday. I really wanted to be able to tell the doctor Luke was rolling over. He was so very close, but still not doing it on his own. The doctor was not at all concerned and said Luke looked great. He weighs 15 pounds now.

Fast forward 5 days. Today, I layed Luke on his play mat. After hating this play mat for the first three months, he finally likes to play on it. He pulls and bats at the hanging toys which are no longer overstimulating to him. Anyway, I placed him on his back on the play mat (on the floor of course - doctor said no baby ever fell off the floor) and when I came back he was on his stomach. I was shocked. Not only because he had finally rolled over on his own, but also because I missed the first time. He did it four more times and I got those all on video to share with dad when he gets home. I am so proud!

I Love Pooh Bear

It took a while for Luke to be interested in toys. We tried the play mat and he would cry. We had toys hang from the swing and he would cry. Too much stimulation I think. He recently started to be interested in toys. A few weeks ago his hands and feel were the coolest things. Now that he can hold things in his hands, he is interested in toys. Many of them plush animals and rattles. I am sure he likes the different textures in his hands.

His favorite by far is the Pooh Bear lovie. When he is fussy we hand it to him. He has it with him in the swing, in the bouncer and in the car. We do not go anywhere without Pooh. This makes Owen smile since he liked Pooh as a child too. Anyway, I still take a ton of pictures of Luke daily. You can imagine how many pictures I get of Pooh too.

Here he is saying..."enough pictures"

Who's Got Rythm?

Luke is just 4 months old, but he has always liked the sound of music. When he is fussy in the evening, all we have to do is turn on the radio and he calms down. He is not picky when it comes to music, so mom and dad get to play their favorites. Naturally, Owen is not a fan of my IPod play list and I dislike his. In the end, all that matters is what Luke likes and he likes it all. At times, I will play music for an hour and dance while he laughs. He even moves to the beat as well. We placed a radio in his room, so diaper changes are more fun for him now. When he is older, I hope he is still a fan of music. However, by then he will have an opinion on music and our songs will be so not cool.

Here are some pics of Luke showing off his moves.
