Halloween 2011

This was Luke's first time to actually go trick-or-treating. He could barely stay awake last year and went to bed before dark. It was quite the experience. We got him dressed in his pilot costume at about 6, so we could take pictures before heading out. I loved loved loved his costume. He loved it too! It was such a hit.

We practiced saying trick-or-treat all week and by Halloween he could say something close. The first few houses were fine. He would either get shy or smile as he said trick-or-treat. However, one of the houses on our culdesac passed out candy dressed as scary witches, zombies and Dracula. Luke was scared and hid between my legs. After that, he was not interested in knocking on the doors. Instead, we pulled him in his wagon and let him smile at all the cute little wiches passing buy. At the end, he played on the patio while we passed out candy. This entertained him for the most part.

Next year, I think he will be more into the idea of trick-or-treating. We will consider this year a practice run. ;) Enjoy!

Pumpkin Carving!

This weekend, was one of those weekends where I tried to cram so many things into two days. Owen has to travel soon, so I felt pressed for time. This is what we did.

Friday, I will be honest. Luke and I stayed in our PJs all day and it was awesome. The real fun began on Saturday.

Saturday, we went to a pumpkin patch a local church. We took pictures with the pumpkins and purchase some to carve at home. We also got to feel good that the money went to the church group. Luke loved walking around and even picked out his own pumpkin. Afterwards, we went to brunch at one of our favorite places, Che Zee. Then it was nap time for Luke. When he woke up, we carved pumpkins. He was so into this! He put his hand in the pumpkin and said gross. I am pretty sure he learned that word from me, but I digress. He was so amazed when we put the candle in the final masterpiece. The best part of all of this was he finally said pumpkin. We had been working on it all week. He says, "punkin" and it is too cute!

Sunday, it was time for family pictures. We could not have asked for better weather. It was sunny and cool in the morning which was perfect since I made the entire family wear sweaters and would not have changed the outfits even if it was 80 degrees. What can I say, I am a planner. Pictures were taken in the morning at Mayfield Park for the third time. It is our favorite place for pictures. There are so many great backgrounds. Luke was in such a good mood. He was walking all over the place, playing peak-a-boo with the photographer, and smiling or laughing the entire time. I hope we get some good pics!

We were all tired by Sunday night, but it was all worth it!

Before and After

Since we live in a two story house, I can have 80% of Luke's toys in the upstairs TV room. I can close all the doors to the bedrooms and make it a large safe zone for him to play. I can see him from evey angle of the room. This is by far our most favorite room in the house. We play, read books, snuggle watching shows and at times I let him eat his snack on a blanket there too.

Each night, we put all his toys away before bath time. I usually say something like, "Are you ready for bath? Then put up your toys.". I have yet to see him actually put his toys away, but one day I know he will. ;) For now, we put them away for him. The next day he pulls them all out and at night the cycle starts all over again. Just Like My Mom

When I was little, I loved to go visit my family in Alice, Texas. While I was there, my favorite thing to eat was a bowl of my grandmother's homemade refried beans and flour tortillas. I cannot help but think of that memory each time I see Luke eating the same thing. As you can see, he loves it as much as I do. However, I make less of a mess these days.

Visiting Aunt Kiki

This weekend, we went to visit my sister in Houston. Luke did so well compared to the last trip. He was so much fun. As you can see by the pictures, he loves playing with my sister. All he needed was a few measuring cups.
