First Family Pictures

Last weekend we took our first family pictures. My friend Veronica was nice enough to take the pictures for us. I wanted some good pictures of Luke since he is changing so fast. We loved all the pictures, but here are some of my favorites.

First Trip Out of Town

This weekend we took Luke on his first out of town trip. We took him to meet my family in Corpus, Kingsville and Alice Texas. The drive was about 3.5 hours from Austin to Corpus and Luke did great. We timed it perfectly. We fed him and immediately started the drive. We made it all the way to Corpus with no crying or fussing. Luke truely likes the car as long as it is moving. He slept most of the way.

We were worried about him sleeping in a new environment, but that was not an issue.

He met so many people, but I only got a few pictures.

Friends and Babies

This weekend Owen had some of his college friends in town. Carl and Heidi were nice enough to host a barbeque at their house. So we all got to catch up while the kids had a "play date". Here are some family pics of the vistors.

Tummy Time

Like all babies, by son hated tummy time. He would cry and cry when I made him do it. The doctor says it is the best thing for him, but it hurt me to make him do something he clearly hated. Well now, he does not mind tummy time. He can push up so strong and see the world. Although he is not rolling over, he is so very close.

So Glad My Son Likes Baths

When we first brought Luke home we were only to give sponge baths. You can imagine my concern when my son would scream at the top of his lungs in order to let me know he hated sponge baths. I was worried he would hate baths all togeher. I was wrong. He actually loves baths now that we can put him in the baby tub. Here are some after bath pics.

Family from Florida

This holiday weekend Owen's sister Mara came to visit along with her husband Chris and two children Rachel and Ryan. They were so excited to meet Luke. Saturday Owen took the family to walk around downtown Austin. They visited the capital and walked the campus of my school, the University of Texas. Too bad Luke's aunt and dad are Aggies. As you can see from the pictures, I was so happy to see that Ryan has come over from the dark side. We may just make him a Longhorn! I took this as an oppotunity to have Luke show his true spirit. Go Horns!

The Perfect Smile...Finally!

I must take 20 pictures of Luke a day. Seriously, I take a lot in order to try and get the perfect picture of Luke smiling. After what seemed like 100 pictures, I finally got it!

Happy Birthday Dad!

To celebrate Owen's birthday, we had out first family outing. Luke had his first trip to a restaurant. He did very well, as he slept most of the time. Then we headed out for some shopping at the Domain, an outdoor shopping center. Luke loves the stroller as long as it is moving. He is not a fan of the sun yet. Owen would say he is just like him mom. However, I do not mind the sun just the 100 degree heat it brings along.

Happy Mother's Day!

This was my first mother's day. I was so happy my mom and sister were here to share it with me. With the extra baby help, I was able to make brunch and lunch for all of us. I had not been in the kitchen like that in a while. Owen was sure to make me feel special the entire weekend. We were even able to go out on a date for the first time since Luke was born. Even though Luke was not with us, we spent a lot of time talking about him and shopping for him. I love being a mom!

Luke's First Playdate

So many of my friends have kids the same age as Luke. I hope to have many playdates in the future, but did not see the point in waiting. Matthew Leber and Colton Still came over for a play date. Luke did not do much by sit in his bouncer. Matthew was able to sit up and play with toys. Colton was ahead of them all as he walked around my house. Maybe next time they will actually play together. ;-)

Happy Easter -- Luke is one month

Today we celebrated Easter and Luke's one month birthday. His outfit said "My First easter"...too cute! As you can see, he was thrilled with taking pictures.

Not too pleased about pictures.

First Weeks Home

When you are expecting, everyone tells you to prepare for no sleep when you bring the baby home. You hear it over and over again. Every book you read as expecting parents tries to prepare you for the first few weeks at home. I should know, I read a ton of books. Well, we are home now and no one can prepare you for what it is really like. You forgot all you read just a few weeks prior. You are so tired and getting little to no sleep. I am not very good at the "sleep when the baby sleeps" idea. The lack of sleep is a huge change since I was sleeping all the time when I was pregnant. Then there is the worrying. I have in a short time become my mother. I worry for everything. Is he breathing, eating enough, why so many dirty diapers, why not enough dirty diapers (yes I called the nurse about this three times). Is he too cold or too hot. Did they sanitize their hands before they carried him? My germaphobia has hit a new high.

Needless to say, it is nice to have help around. My mother came to stay for two weeks and my sister came for a long weekend. Owens parents are also not far away. Here are a few pictures of Luke with all the helpers.

Welcome Baby Luke

Today Luke Aidan Panko was born at 4:10 p.m. He was 7 lbs. 14 oz. and 20 inches long. I cannot explain the emotions we felt the first time we saw him. The pictures say it all.
